Real Madrid Considering Mauricio Pochettino As Zinedine Zidane’s Successor

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is on Real Madrid’s radar, according the Sunday Mirror.

Despite Zinedine Zidane leading Real to Champions League glory last season, there are reportedly doubts over his long-term future.

The club’s president Florentino Perez has proved ruthless in his ambition to keep the Spanish giants on top.

In his first spell in charge he even sacked Vincente Del Bosque despite the former Spain manager winning the Champions League in 2002.

Pochettino could be tempted by a return to La Liga having managed Espanyol from 2009 to 2012.

What is still galling for Perez and the club’s hierarchy is that they haven’t been crowned champions of Spain since 2012, bitter rivals Barcelona winning the league on three occasions and neighbours Atletico Madrid once.

That’s why discussions have started about possible future managerial targets – and right now Pochettino is top of the list.

It is understood chairman Daniel Levy is aware of Real’s interest and will face a fight to stop Pochettino eventually leaving, despite the manager having signed a new five-year contract only last summer.
