Barcelona have confirmed that Lionel Messi has taken over from Andres Iniesta as the club captain.
As part of the new changes, the talismanic no 10 will be supported by Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué and Sergi Roberto.
Messi’s promotion as captain doesn’t come as a surprise as he’s been the club’s vice-captain since 2015.
?? Four Barça captains for this season: all from La Masia!

Midfield lynchpin Busquets moves up the list of captains while Pique is a new addition to Ernesto Velverde’s leaders.
Pique, 31, is an authoritative presence in the team and never shies away from giving his opinion both on and off the pitch.
All four players came through La Masia which means whenever the team plays they will be captained by a player who came through the famous academy.
Barca will be hoping to improve on their League and Copa double last season, with the Champions League a major target this term.
