THE WICKED AND SELFISH ACT OF A TERTIARY INSTITUTION as reported by a STUDENT OF THE SCHOOL

gateKwara State University, Malete, Kwara State is a school with huge bias. To start with, Kwara indigenes pay 99,500naira while non-indigene pays 200,000naira at undergraduate level. Because nobody raised eyebrow about the situation, they now wanted to try same with the post-graduate students.

Postgraduate students pay 150,000naira at inception and it’s supposed to be reduced to 50% by the time they resume for 2nd year, which means they were supposed to pay 75,000naira as returning students. Because the 1st year fee is tuition but in the 2nd year, students will not be tutored because it’s dissertation stage and it will be capital intensive and student driven.

On the 22nd of October, 2015, the PG students received a message from the PG school, and it goes thus:
“Please visit the PG website www.kwasu.edu.ng/pgportal for the 2015/2016 Calendar.
Note that the fees for Returning Students are as follows:
Masters =#75,000.00
Ph.D =#150,000.00
Students who are Staff of the University should visit the Secretary for information on their registration”

They were delighted and already looking forward to making payments but to their disappointment, as they were about going to bed on the 2nd of November, 2015, which happens to be 10days after the receipt of the first message, they got a shocker which reads thus:
” This is to inform PG applicants that information on admission for 2015/ 16 will be released soon. The Calendar for 2015/16 will be available on PG website www.kwasu.edu.ng/pgportal
Returning students should disregard recent information on fees as it was erroneously sent.
The fees for 2015/16 remain the same as 2014/15:
#150,000:00 per academic year.
Returning students should visit the PG office for further clarification if necessary”

Where in the world is this done? That is the question on the lips of all PG students.
If the institution is bent on making money at all cost, it should be done wisely.
Thank you.
