Just in…Oyetola Floors Adeleke at Supreme Court to Retain Governorship Seat
The victory of Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been affirmed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
In a 5-2 majority ruling delivered on Friday by the presiding judge, Justice Rhodes Vivour, the prayers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 governorship poll in Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, were dismissed accordingly.
The Supreme Court also nullified the Tribunal judgment, which had earlier declared Adeleke as the winner of the Osun gubernatorial election and upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal that affirmed Oyetola’s victory.
In his short comment after the judgement, the Chief Press Secretary to Osun State governor, Adesina Adeniyi, simply said: “Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s victory affirmed by the Supreme Court.”
The opposition party and his candidate are yet to make a formal reaction over the Supreme Court’s pronouncements.
