cdo beauty house-20151029-090415HELLO people! It’s another time on The Beauty Shop to meet someone superb who would tell us about their experience in their profession, give us gist about their lifestyles, and share with us secrets they probably would not tell anyone. Its Friday, Ladies and Gentlemen, its INTERVIEWS AND MORE!  On THE BEAUTY SHOP.  Join me, let’s learn, laugh and have fun. I still remain your Host- Chibuzor Deborah Ojini (C.D.O).

So after I had looked and looked and looked for this Lady, and we fixed meetings that didn’t eventually hold due to one reason or the other, Well, I finally hooked her down for this interview and I am super glad that I spoke with her. Her Love for God amazes me and her enthusiasm for her work thrills me. She is sure an encouragement to every other student entrepreneur out there; she is a Fashion designer and the CEO of Aden Collections. You are all welcome to officially meet her!

ME: PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF

My name is Nwankwo Adaeze, I am a fresh graduate of The University of Ibadan where I studied psychology. I am a fashion designer with love for beautiful colours and dresses. I am the CEO of Aden Collections, a fashion house that designs dresses for all kinds of occasions and for both male and female. I am the Last Girl and the only girl of a family of four children. Apart from fashion designing, I model, I bake but these are things I like to do partially on one side. My favorite colour is black.

ME: DO YOU BY ANY CHANCE HAVE ANY LIKES AND DISLIKES?

Well, I don’t exactly have the exact words for these expressions but I love people who understand, I like honesty, I like it when people appreciate, I like friendly people, I love principled and hardworking people

ME: SO WHEN DID YOU START?

I officially started in 2012

ME:  WHAT MOTIVATED YOU?

Well, most of the push came from self motivation, I see people wear dresses and it amazes me at how these colours where combined and how it fits on different people and so it occurred to me that I could recreate these dresses and make people look fabulous too. My family was also a great part of my motivation, they’ve being really supportive.

ME: SO FAR, WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES YOU HAVE ENCOUNTERED?

One major setback has been Cost. Finances especially as a student entrepreneur was not funny at all, getting money to run the fashion house, pay workers, and still ensure that I deliver the dresses. Another major challenge is time management, it’s not exactly easy being a student and owning a business too, the workload can be so much and it can wear one down if one isn’t careful. In fact sometimes, I tell myself that I would not take orders for a particular time and then I would still see myself taking orders and going over the same cycle of ensuring quality satisfaction for my clients. And sometimes too, difficult clients can be a major challenge in the business too, clients who are difficult to please, some clients would not even consider the hard work it takes into designing and getting an order ready for them, they would still go ahead to reject the order completely or some would just keep on complaining and complaining, for some, it is their inability to arrive at a particular dress they want, they would choose and choose and choose. But all the same, God has being helping me.

ME:  ANY ROLE MODELS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY YOU LOOK UP TO?

WOW, that may be a little difficult because I love most of the jobs f fashion designers I see around but if I would pick a particular fashion label, it would be TIFFANYAMBERNG by Folake Coker, Her work piece is very outstanding. On the International platform, a fashion house I have come to respect is Ralph and Russo. I newly discovered them and their fashion work piece is neatly detailed.

ME:  WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE HANGOUT SPOT?

Well, am just cool with just strolling around, am not exactly a fan of going to a particular place o stay put, I prefer just strolling and taking a walk around. Though. Sometimes I like going to the Filmhouse cinemas. But to be very honest, my bed is the best hangout spot for me anytime any day. On the bed with fabrics and clothes lying all around me, inspiration comes way faster for me that way.

ME:  BEING THE FASHION DESIGNER THAT YOU ARE, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THAT MUST NEED IN A LADIES WARDROBE?

Hmmmmmmm, I think every lady should have the LBD i.e. The LITTLE BLACK DRESS. It can be worn to cocktails, fashion shows, parties, corporate events, dinners, Red carpet Events etc. It can also be worn by a model at pageantry, though it must be exquisitely done, I mean the style should be outstanding. Every lady should have this always in their wardrobe; it can fit in at all events.

ME: ANY MUST NEED FOR THE GUYS TOO?

Well, these days a lot of things can pass for guys but I feel that every guy should have at least one proper Ankara wear that they have. And also a blazer and a tuxedo is a necessity too and not just casuals all the time.

ME:  SOME OF THE FASHION SHOWS YOU HAVE SHOWCASED IN?

Whatzhot fashion show at Silverbird Galleria (2013), Miss UI (2014), Mr & Miss Pharmacy (2015) etc.

ME: SO WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

All things being equal, I see myself very well established, having my own fashion house and doing what I love to do best. Being the General Overseer of the fashion house and just overseeing everything going on.

ME: SO UNTO OUR SECRET QUESTION- WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO WEAR WHEN NO ONE IS AROUND?

My oh my, if I am going to be sincere, I don’t like to wear anything. I would prefer to be without clothes. I love freedom on every side and of course I just love to express my freedom……*laughs*

ME: ANY LAST ENCOURAGING WORDS TO EVERYONE READING THIS NOW?

Yes, always be yourself. In anything you do, always involve God.
